Mike Docker obtained a B.Sc. in Chemistry at the University of Birmingham in 1984 and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry at the University of Nottingham in 1987 under the supervision of Professor John Simons.
From 1987 to 1989 he was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Physical Chemistry Institute of the University of Zurich in the research group of Professor J Robert Huber.
From 1989 to 1992 he worked in the Remote Sensing Unit at BP Research in Sunbury-on-Thames.
In 1992 Mike left BP to pursue a career in teaching.
After a variety of short-term teaching posts Mike joined Farnborough Sixth Form College in 1994 and became Head of Chemistry in 1997.
Since 1999 Mike has been Director of ICLT at Farnborough Sixth Form College, whilst continuing to teach Chemistry on a part-time basis.
