All quizzes in this section require a browser capable of supporing JavaScript version 1.1 or later. This feature is built in to most modern Web browsers and does not require any additional plug-ins. The quizzes will work with Netscape Navigator version 3 (or later) or version 4 of Microsoft's Internet Explorer. They will not work with version 3 of Internet Explorer.

The quizzes described below are designed to help with revision. Each quiz consist of between 5 and 20 questions depending on the style of question. At the end of each quiz a clearance code is issued. At the end of each set of quizzes the individual clearance codes can be entered and an overall clearance code generated in the form of a clearance certificate, which can be printed if required. More information on the use of clearance codes is available. Students (and teachers) who collect a full set of clearance codes can submit their name for inclusion in the Hall of Fame.

Naming organic compounds Four quizzes on recognising which homologous series a compound belongs to and what its systematic name is.
Animations of reaction mechanisms 2D animations (with curly arrows and sub-titles) of the five main reaction mechanisms studied at A level. Each animation has an accompanying quiz. There is also a quiz on the correct use of curly arrows in reaction mechanisms.
Reagents and conditions for one step conversions Four quizzes on the reagents and conditions needed for the 40 or so conversions studied at A level. These are roughly broken down into three sets (alkanes, alkenes and halogenocompounds, oxygen containing compounds and nitrogen containing compounds) although the classification is relaxed for compounds such as nitriles.
Miscellaneous quizzes Multiple choice style questions (50 questions per quiz in groups of 10) based on clickable image maps covering the whole organic chemistry syllabus.
Tests for functional groups Four quizzes on tests for identifying functional groups.
Multi-functional compounds Four quizzes involving clickable image maps of multi-functional compounds with questions like 'click on the chiral centre', 'click on the carbonyl group', 'click on the group which reacts with sodium metal' etc.
Reaction schemes Eight quizzes based around reaction schemes. Reagents and conditions are given for each step and possible products can be stepped through by clicking on the relevant image.
Snap Three quizzes based on a variation of the game snap. The quizzes involve recognising sets of isomers from their names, formulae or from short descriptions of their chemical properties.
