Advice for Mac Users

Users of Apple Macintosh computers can easily open Windows 95 self-extracting archives in several ways, for example, by using

Stuffit Expander is regularly included on the cover disks of such magazines as MacFormat and MacWorld and can also be downloaded from Aladdin's Web site at http://www.aladdinsys.com/store/index.html.

ZipIt can be downloaded from the SoftLock Web site at http://www.awa.com/softlock/zipit/zipit.html.

Both programs work by ignoring the Windows 95 code for the self-extraction and instead use their own code to unzip the data within the zip archive.

If you experience any technical problems with unzipping the .exe self-extractors on a Mac, please send me details at MikeD@mp-docker.demon.co.uk and I will try to help.
